Homemade Cheese & Onion Beef & Lentil Burgers

Protein packed burgers with a combination of lentils & beef mince!

Ingredients:

  • 1 diced onion
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 can lentils drained & rinsed
  • 500gr beef mince
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1tsp salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg

Get cooking:

  1. Place all the ingredients into a food processor. Pulse a bit and then scrape down the ingredients still sitting at the top to ensure an even consistency. Pulse again. You don’t want to over pulse it or it will become too mushy.
  2. Roll spoonfuls of burger mixture into balls and shape into patties.
  3. To cook, Fry them in olive oil.

Serve with mashed avocado & feta on a bed of lettuce with a side of sweet potato or carrot chips!


It makes a big batch, about 15 patties and they freeze raw really well! Just wrap individually in cling film and place in a ziplock bag.

Tasty Treat – Bunless Burger withSweet Potato & Zucchini oven fries

It’s not quite as healthy as a salad, but is still a healthier version of a burger and chips!

Ingredients:

  • Fresh beef burger patties from your favourite butcher/supermarket
  • Brown Onion
  • Sweet Potato
  • Zucchini
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Parmesan
  • Avocado or Guacamole (Woolworths make a really good one that lasts a few days)
  • Grated Cheese for topping

Get Cooking:

  • Turn oven on to 180 degrees
  • Sweet potatoes:
    • Chop into chip-like shapes
    • Place chips into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil & season with salt & pepper and mix in the bowl until all chips are coated evenly
    • Spay 2 baking trays with spray & cook and spread sweet potato chips out on the one tray. Pop into the oven for 15 minutes. The sweet potato takes longer than the Zucchini so they need to go in first.
  • Zucchini:
    • Chop into chip-like shapes
    • Place chips into a bowl, drizzle with olive oil & season with pepper & paprkia and mix in the bowl until all chips are coated evenly (I didn’t add salt because the Parmesan is quite salty)
    • Spread Zucchini chips out on the one tray and top with a bit of Parmesan. Pop into the oven after the sweet potatoes have been in for 15 minutes. Set timer to another 15 minutes.
  • Onion & Burgers:
    • In a pan, fry the onion and the burger patties
    • Top burger patties with onion, cheese & guacamole
